LAS transformation

Overview

We use the Lasio Python library to extract all of the curves data for LAS files. We then supplement this with well header data and add units of measure to the property headers.

In addition to this we offer re-sampling options to reduce the number of rows in the output file (a LAS file often contains thousands of rows sampled at a small intervals e.g. 0.1m).

Sampling

Options are available to select a target depth interval and the resampling method (median or mean). The rows are grouped based on the target depth interval as illustrated below:

The source depth interval is 0.1m represented by the green lines.

The target depth interval is set to 1m represented by the orange boxes.

The boundaries are centred adding half a step (source interval) at the top and bottom of the group to avoid gaps.

The top and base depths assigned fall between the source steps e.g., the first group is given a top depth of 999.95 and base depth of 1000.95.

The second group is given a top depth of 1000.95 and base depth of 1001.95.
